I have ALWAYS wanted to teach abroad, and for several years I have considered what it would be like to work abroad on my own and do one of the things that I love to do… teach. After contemplating a few different opportunities previously, the opportunity and timing to leave Toronto after completing my BEd earlier this year presented itself, so I wanted to take it as I knew how difficult it would be to find a job teaching at the school board. I just wanted to start my career and get teaching and learning and improving my skills as an educator. Living in Asia was something I wanted to do too, and Korea struck me as an interesting place as I’ve heard from many friends and acquaintances how ‘good’ their experience was.
Of course, leaving Toronto meant leaving friends, family and B behind. But it would only be for a mere 12 months and I was going to have visitors here and there anyway. I must admit, the first week or so it was tough getting use to life in a small condo by myself in a foreign city which didn’t have many English speaking people or signs or menus :S. I was homesick but thanks to my supportive friends I managed to get through those gloomy days. THANKS ^.^ Continue reading
Ontario is such a beautiful place sometimes. I’ve been fortunate enough to be able to explore this province with the one I love on several occasions and each trip just gets better and better! 🙂 Our last trip was back in February when we went to Niagara-on-the-Lake for our 5 year anniversary. That was a more ‘relaxing’ getaway whereas this one was a bit more adventurous! 😛 I’ve been meaning to make a trip to the Bruce Peninsula, specifically Tobermory since I heard of its amazing beauty and thought what better time than to take my best friend for his upcoming birthday! One of the best, if not the best farmer’s market in Toronto, definitely has to be at Don Valley Evergreen Brickworks. I finally got the chance to go check it out on a beautiful Saturday morning when the bf didn’t have to play soccer :P. I decided farmers markets were something moms would enjoy too so I asked B and his mom, as well as my mom to head down together for a Saturday morning bunch/walk around. We arrived at about 10:30am and the place was already bustling with busy bodies (people getting their stations ready) and visitors like myself finding a parking space and checking the place out. By noon the place was packed and there were line ups everywhere! A very good summer family event to go to if you ask me! Continue reading
